The NSAI is Ireland's Standards body. NSAI facilitates the development of voluntary standard documents which manufacturers or service providers may use as an aid to meeting saftety ot customer requirements. It is also a leading supplier of product and systems Certifications Services, both domestically and internationally, and is the provider of Legal Metrology services in Ireland. The NSAI has offices throughout Ireland and in the United States where its standards and certification services are provided on a commercial basis.

The NSAI represents the Irish interests in European and international Standards bodies - groups that work towards the harmonisation of standards and the removal of technical barriers to trade.

As a small open economy the work of the NSAI is vitally important for business as it facilitates the growing globalisation of the marketplace that Ireland has benefited from over the last number of years. More than that the use of standards and quality marks gives the consumer confidence in the product or service being purchased.
